Longtime NIU friends Christopher and Lorraine Millington of Algonquin, Illinois, made a significant financial commitment benefitting students, faculty and programs in the NIU College of Business.
The Millingtons are passionate about women in technology and are expanding their support to the Marian Elizabeth Millington Scholarship, named in memory of Chris’ mother. This four-year scholarship supports female Operations Management & Information Systems (OM&IS) students who plan to enter the technology field after graduation.
The Millingtons have also funded three faculty research fellowships that will advance understanding in the areas of business communication, leadership and promotion of females into senior roles in the information technology sector.
Chris and Lorraine are continuing their support of the Experiential Learning Center (ELC) Angels Program, which sponsors a student-consulting project for non-profit project organizations.
“I am always grateful to donors who support one of these important priorities. I’m thrilled that Chris and Lorraine are funding all three! What makes this unique is they are not alumni. Chris became involved by sponsoring a project several years ago. Today, he is one of the largest benefactors and closest friends to the College of Business. Our students and faculty are very fortunate he decided to get involved,” says Dr. Denise Schoenbachler, Dean, NIU College of Business.
